The badge-shaped logo for Tacoma's Top Wedding Venues

An exclusive set of wedding venues in the greater Tacoma area can brag about a new honor that sets them apart from all the rest.

Brides-to-be planning classy weddings in the Puget Sound area now have an easier way to identify their best venue options.

All thanks to the recent launch of Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues (www.tacomaweddingvenues.com) — a collection of nine photo galleries packed with beautiful images from real weddings photographed by Wallflower Photography that took place at what we believe to be the Tacoma area’s nine best wedding venues.

As nine-year veterans of Puget Sound-area weddings, we know that the Tacoma area is home to many of the Puget Sound region’s most incredible wedding venues, from historic structures built during Tacoma’s early boom times, to ultra-modern buildings constructed during its 21st-century renaissance. But many brides and grooms — especially those from up north — aren’t even aware these venues exist. Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues is all about showing off photography of our hometown’s crown jewel venues in action to help brides-to-be find their perfect wedding venue.

The inaugural nine-venue membership roster of Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues starts with four venues in downtown Tacoma: Museum of Glass, Union Station, Washington State History Museum and Hotel Murano. Then we add three stately mansion/garden venues just outside of town: Lakewold Gardens and Thornewood Castle in Lakewood, and Kensington Gardens in Gig Harbor. We round off the list with two very different golf courses: the traditional, luxurious Tacoma Country & Golf Club, and the hip, unusual Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, site of the 2015 U.S. Open. What an impressive list!

Membership in Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues is exclusive, based on a variety of performance attributes, and is not for sale. This gives the inclusion of these venues more validity than for-hire wedding websites. The membership roster may evolve over time, especially as new wedding venues (America’s Car Museum? McMenamin’s Elks Temple?) enter the local market. The photo galleries will expand as we periodically add new weddings; we’re particularly excited about our two Chambers Bay weddings this year, since that’s one of the smaller galleries right now.

So why did we go through all the time and effort of launching Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues for free? Well, we’re big Tacoma boosters, and we want to see our favorite hometown venues succeed, not only in pulling brides from the Tacoma area, but in stealing some from venues up north. It’s also no big surprise that we also want to photograph more weddings at our favorite venues! Especially now that we have two young children, the less we have to drive up to Seattle (which can turn a 7-hour photography commitment into 9 hours) the better. This website certainly proves that we’ve mastered the art of photographing weddings at these venues, and when you’re a bride trying to pick a wedding photographer out of the hundreds out there, it’s a major advantage to be able to see their work at the specific venue you’ve booked. We certainly hope that after brides-to-be see our beautiful, creative wedding photos on the Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues site, we’ll be their second phone call, after they wrap up their venue.

We commissioned our talented artist friend Michaela Eaves (www.michaelaeaves.com) to design the Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues logo, which you can see at the top of this post, and member venues have an alternate version for embedding on the wedding pages of their websites to brag about their membership. We just noticed that Washington State History Museum has already embedded theirs — looks good, guys!

Truth be told, the Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues website soft-launched about a month ago, so this blog post marks the official grand opening. We’re glad to see that the site has already achieved first-page results on most relevant search terms on Google, Bing and Yahoo, and it should continue to climb the list as people start using it.

We look forward to growing the Tacoma’s Top Wedding Venues website in the following years. Congrats to our nine member venues — you certainly deserve the honor!
