Wedding Walk Tacoma last Sunday was awesome, but if you missed it, or if you’re looking to attend a more traditional wedding show, the South Sound Wedding Show this weekend is the place to be!

This year, the South Sound Wedding Show has moved to the McGavick Event Center at 4500 Steilacoom Blvd SW in Lakewood. It’s a beautiful venue, and much, much classier than the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall where other wedding shows are held. In fact, the whole experience for attendees at this wedding show is much nicer! As 5-year veterans of the Tacoma Dome shows, you’ll have to trust us on that.

A big reason for the difference is that the South Sound Wedding Show is produced by the Olympia-based publishers of South Sound Wedding & Event magazine who are committed to doing what’s best for the local community. That includes a more attractive event venue, a better balance of exhibiting vendors, and a smaller size that doesn’t feel so overwhelming. With this more intimate setting, there’s less pressure for vendors to aggressively draw attention to themselves, something we’ve always been loathe to do.

The South Sound Wedding Show begins this Friday, Feb. 25, with a VIP catered event limited to 150 registered guests in the evening. Act fast if you want to attend it! Saturday is the main event, running from 10am-4pm, with about 40 total vendors exhibiting. While there are gowns on sale every day of the show, Sunday is all about wedding dress sales, with no other vendors present. Gowns are from Brides Against Breast Cancer, benefiting Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that grants wishes to those with Stage IV breast cancer.

Tickets are $8 at the door, which includes a copy of the latest issue of South Sound Wedding & Event magazine, in which you’ll find a nice big featured wedding that we photographed last year. We hope to meet you there!
