Meet Jessie and TJ. These two are going to own this blog for the next few weeks as we feature their engagement portraits, shot in downtown Tacoma last fall, followed by their wedding at Museum of Glass. Not only are Jessie and TJ supremely photogenic, they are two of the sweetest people we’ve ever met — and after over 200 weddings, that’s saying something!

You know what else is supremely photogenic? Our beautiful hometown of Tacoma, Washington! Sure, we have a reputation for being a little rough around the edges, but head downtown with a camera and you’ll find a smorgasbord of scenic settings. Since Jessie and TJ’s wedding would take place at the south end of downtown, we focused on the grittier north end for their engagement portrait session.

The historic Murray Morgan Bridge, visible in the background of the first photo below, is currently under wraps as it undergoes some serious restoration. Back during our session, however, the bridge was all ours — at least, until a sudden downpour drove us back to shelter! What better place to keep busy while waiting out the rain than these graffiti-coated garages?

We swung by Hotel Murano — Jessie and TJ’s wedding hotel to be — for a few portraits in front of the towering Orizon sculpture. Then, for our final stop, we headed down the hill for our first visit to the new Projecting Drop sculpture adorning the hill climb next to Pacific Plaza, the parking garage turned LEED Platinum certified office building.
